Overview

PromptPatch is a Chrome extension that lets you save, version, and compare prompts you write on AI platforms such as Claude and ChatGPT. This policy explains what data the extension collects, how it is used, and your choices.

Data we collect

1. Prompt content (website content)

As you type, PromptPatch reads the current prompt from supported AI interfaces and stores an auto-captured draft in your local Chrome storage (chrome.storage.local). Pressing Save prompt commits that draft as a clean version. Prompt and response text stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

• Prompt text is stored locally only.
• Prompt text is never used for advertising, analytics, or model training.
• Prompt text is never sold or shared with third parties.

2. Anonymous usage telemetry (user activity)

If you enable usage sharing in settings, the extension sends anonymous, aggregated events to help us understand how features are used and where to improve the product. Examples: prompt saved, output attached, settings saved, licence verified, and checkout opened.

• Events contain no prompt text and no personally identifiable information.
• Each installation is assigned a randomly generated anonymous ID (a UUID). This ID cannot be linked back to you.
• Telemetry is off by default. You can enable or disable it at any time in the extension settings.
• Telemetry data is never sold and not shared with third-party analytics providers.

3. Licence key (authentication information)

Your licence key is stored in chrome.storage.local and sent to Gantry Works solely to verify that your subscription is active. It is not stored in plaintext on our servers beyond what is required for verification, and it is never shared with third parties.

Data we do not collect

• Your name, address, or any other personally identifiable information
• Your browsing history beyond the specific AI platforms listed in the extension manifest
• Financial or payment information (payments are handled directly by Stripe)
• Health information
• Personal communications
• Location data

Host permissions

PromptPatch requests access to claude.ai, chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com, and related AI assistant domains. This access is used exclusively to read the prompt text you have written in the chat input when you choose to save it. The extension does not read any other content from these pages, does not track your browsing sessions, and does not access your chat history.

Remote code

PromptPatch does not execute remote code. All JavaScript is bundled within the extension package at install time. Network requests are limited to Gantry Works services for licence verification. These requests return data only — never executable code.

Data retention and deletion

All locally stored data (prompt library, settings, anonymous ID) is deleted when you uninstall the extension or use the Clear all data option in extension settings. We retain server-side licence records for the duration of your subscription plus 90 days for billing dispute purposes, after which they are purged.

Children

PromptPatch is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where required, notify users via the extension or by email.
